LAHORE, July 4: Interpol aided by Punjab police has arrested four British-born Pakistanis, including three brothers, on charges of organised crimes they had allegedly committed in the UK, it was learnt on Monday. Lahore city police chief DIG Tariq Saleem confirmed the arrests, and said that his teams had helped Interpol officials in raids. “We just assisted them,” he told Dawn.
A senior police officer, who accompanied Interpol officials, said that the arrests had been made in two raids conducted in Lahore and Toba Tek Singh in the last two days.
He said the Glasgow-based arrested men were wanted by the Interpol in organised crimes, including three murders, a murder-cum-rape, cyber crimes and frauds. Of the accused, he identified the three brothers as Imran Ahmad, Furqan Ahmad and Zeeshan Ahmad and their friend Mushtaq.
The officer said the accused had allegedly committed the crimes in Glasgow and London. He said the arrested men had been shifted to Islamabad, who were likely to be extradited in a day or two.
