KARACHI, July 4: Fancied Candyland won the Karachi Bridge Association Weekend Swiss League Bridge Tournament with 100 Victory Points (VP) on Sunday. Nafis Jafar, Ziaullah Baig, Hamid Mohiuddin, Hasan Askri, Khalid Mohiuddin and M. Ismail displayed consistent form for the winners to emerge victors. The winners outplayed Chandna 17-13. Mahmood-IV fell to their own aggression in the second round and lost 23-7. Maq went down 10-20 and Fine Foods was beaten 17-13.

In the final round, Combined team gave them testing time before going down 17-13.

Winsome having Asghar Naqvi, Lutufullah, Nasir Ahmed and Wazir Durrani secured runners-up pot with 90 VP.

They started poorly by going down 11-19 to Mahmood-IV and then outbid Strikers 17-13. An impressive 25-0 victory over Four Bidders elevated their position. However, they lost 13-17 in the fourth round to Combined team.

In the last round Winsome wrapped up the match 24-0 against Maq.

Combined Team comprising Mazhar Ali Khan, Shoaib Khan, A.K. Bhurgri and Anwer Kizilbash collected 89 VP for third spot beating Four Bidders Club 19-11, Alliance 25-01 and Winsome 17-13. They, however, lost to Fine Foods 14-16 and to the eventual winners.—Agencies
