Disputes with CM to be resolved: MPA

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, July 4: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League’s provincial parliamentary group has expressed the hope that its disputes with the chief minister would be resolved according to assurances given by party’s Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain. The parliamentary group held a meeting here on Monday at the residence of Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali to review progress on implementation of decisions taken during a meeting between Mr Hussain and the group last week.

After the meeting, provincial Secretary-General of the PML Shiekh Jaffar Khan Mandokhel told newsmen that the situation was improving and the disputed issued would be resolved in next two three days.

“Things are moving in right direction and we are hopeful about positive results of our efforts,” he said.

He said that the group was not against any body and it was struggling for restoration of due status of the PML in the coalition as senior partner.

He said that the PML parliamentary group was satisfied with the progress being made so far towards resolving the issues.

He said that Mr Hussain had accepted that the complaints of the PML group were not wrong and its stand was based on principles.

Mr Mandokhel expressed concern over government officials’ transfers in different districts of the province before the local body elections on the demand of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and said that the transfers would affect the elections.

He said that the situation might force some PML MPAs, including himself, to boycott the elections in their constituencies.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jamali said that positive signs were coming from Islamabad for resolving the disputed issues, which had led to a movement in the chief minister’s house.

He criticized the transfer of two grade 20 officers of the planning and development department on the directives of the senior provincial minister, who, he said, could transfer officers up to grade 18 only.

He said that it was an encroachment upon the powers of the chief minister and called on him to take notice of it.

MPA Robina Irfan demanded that all the appointments, made by the ministers in various departments and by the speaker in the Balochistan Assembly, be cancelled as they were against merit.

She said that those posts should be advertized in newspapers and filled on the basis of merit.

MPA Shah Zaman Rind said that the government should stop victimization against his people by registering false cases.
