Strike observed in Shahdadkot: District status demanded

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, July 4: On the call of District Forum (DF), a complete strike was observed in Shahdadkot on Monday to press the Sindh government to accord district status to Shahdadkot. Businesses and trade centres remained closed and vehicles off the road. People took out processions and burnt tyres to register their protest. Different socio-political organizations supported the strike.

Mian Atta Mohammed, chairman of DF, Serai Qurban Khuhawar and Mansoor Jarwar led the processions which passed through the main roads of the town and up to Kotoo-Motoo chowk.

Addressing the gathering, leaders of the DF urged the Sindh government to make Shahdadkot a district comprising Qubo Saeed Khan, Sujawal Junejo, Mirokhan and Shahdadkot as its talukas.

They warned the government of serious consequences if it continued to ignore their demands, asking it to realize the gravity of the situation.

A complete strike was also observed in Qubo Saeed Khan town on Monday.

POWER OUTAGE: Residents of Qafila Serai, Union Council 9, protesting over unannounced loadshedding and inflated bills, held a demonstration at Jinnah Bagh Chowk.

Jam Shoaib Unnar and Nisar Ansari led the protestors who burnt tyres and blocked vehicular traffic.

They alleged that unscheduled loadshedding in Larkana had become a routine matter.

SUICIDE: Abdul Rehman Khuhro, 70, committed suicide in Akil village on the outskirts of Larkana on Monday.

The cause of suicide could not be known, police said.
