LAHORE, July 4: The Lahore High Court Bar Association committee has managed to resolve the crisis following a consensus among officials. The consensus emerged when all office-bearers held out an assurance that they would strictly adhere to bar rules and regulations as well as follow its traditions to ensure a smooth functioning of the body. This will help all four office-bearers to work within the parameters of the LHC bar rules. The six-member committee, which had a detailed meeting with all four office-bearers on Monday, also decided that the executive committee and other committees announced by bar president Fakharunnisa Khokhar would be expanded to accommodate nominees of other three office-holders.
The Monday’s meeting remained fruitful with all office-bearers agreeing to work in unison. They evolved a “formula” that would be enforced within this week.
The committee observed if all office-holders worked within the confines of the bar rules and regulations, there should be no dispute in the working of the bar as a body.
The bar saw a division in its ranks soon after the elections in February this year with the president pitting against three other office-bearers.
Committee member Ahmad Awais, a former bar president, said that all the issues had more or less been resolved and the office-bearers decided to work with each other in harmony.
