KARACHI: 44 mobile phones, 22 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, July 4: Bandits deprived 44 people of their cell phones and 22 people of their vehicles here on Monday. According to the statistics gathered by the police, bandits took away 44 mobile phones in Saddar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulberg, Jamshed Town, and Clifton. Besides, three cars were snatched at gunpoint and three others were stolen in various areas of the city. Police sources said that three motorbikes were hijacked and 13 others were stolen in different localities.

Police claimed recovery of 100 stolen mobile phone sets in the past six months, of them, 38 sets had been handed over to their owners. The statistics show that more than 9,500 mobile phones were taken away by the bandits during the past six months. Police said that out of 9,500 sets, some 2,918 were snatched at gunpoint.
