KARACHI: Niamat, 250 others nominated in FIR

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 3: The former City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, three legislators and around 250 other people have been nominated in an FIR lodged by Nasreen Jalil, member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee late on Saturday night at the Airport police station.

The complainant came to the police station in person to lodge the FIR, police said.

Police said the FIR pertained to Friday night’s incident when Nasreen Jalil had to face hundreds of workers who had come to welcome the former city nazim on his return from Islamabad at the Karachi Airport. They reportedly chanted slogans.

Besides, the former City Nazim, MNA Laiq Ahmed, MPA Nasrullah Sajjee and MPA Younis Barai and some 250 unknown persons have been nominated in the FIR.

The FIR 88/2005 contains Section 314, referring to wrong full restraint, 354 to assault, 506 to criminal intimidation and 504 referring to intentional insult with intension to provoke breach of peace.

Nasreen Jalil, however, did not suffer any physical injury.

Both Mr Niamatullah Khan and Nasreen Jalil had returned to Karachi on the same PIA flight 390 last Friday night.

ACTION ORDERED: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui has taken a serious notice of the alleged manhandling, misbehaviour and maltreatment meted out to the former senator, Nasreen Jalil, and has issued directives for immediate arrest of those involved in the deplorable act, adds APP.
