NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 29: The Khushiks and Syeds have agreed to end their dispute in which 10 people from both sides have been killed since March 2003. The truce came in the wake of an agreement between the Khushiks and Syeds reached at a meeting held in Kandiaro on Wednesday, which was arranged with the reconciliatory efforts of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz Chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi.

The dispute started when the Syeds killed one Suhno Khushik on the pretext of karo-kari.

In retaliation, the Khushiks killed Zanwar Shah, Punhal Shah and Sikandar Mari.

On Wednesday, Shahnawaz Khushik and Syed Shahabuddin Shah were nominated as Ameens to resolve the dispute.

Basheer Qureshi, Azhar Kamario and Kandiaro Taluka Nazim Syed Abrar Shah were also present.

Seven murders of both the groups were proved in the jirga and it was decided that the Syeds would pay Rs200,000 for murder of Suhno Khushik besides Rs900,000 for three other killings.

The Khushiks will have to pay Rs600,000 for murder of Zanwar Shah and Punhal Shah and Rs400,000 for Suhail Shah.
