FAISALABAD, June 29: The governing body of the Faisalabad Development Authority has sanctioned Rs1,524 million (1.52 billion) for its urban development wing in the budget for the year 2005-06. The decision was taken at a meeting held here with FDA director general in the chair on Wednesday.
The meeting was told that Rs1,337 million would be spent on development projects. A huge amount has also been fixed for providing civic amenities in the proposed FDA City Housing Scheme. A sum Rs43 million has been allocated for the GC University while Rs112 million would be spent on the schemes of the City District government.
About the proposed plan of Wasa, the meeting was told that a huge amount would be spent on the completion of a water supply project mainly sponsored by a Japanese organization, JICA. A sum of Rs50 million has been allocated for a drainage scheme from Nishatabad to Paharang.
However, Rs454 million have been earmarked for the non-development projects of Wasa while Rs50 million would be spent on modernization of water supply and drainage lines.
Wasa managing director told the house that not a single penny was being provided from the provincial government for the non-development projects.
It has arranged funds through its own efforts, the MD said.
