KARACHI: School, vocational centre planned


KARACHI, June 29: The Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Syed Shoaib Bukhari, on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a government vocational institute for boys and government boys primary school at the Jamia Millia Campus in Shah Faisal Town.b The government has allocated Rs30 million for both projects.

The school on an area of 9,996 sq-ft would have five classrooms, a workshop, drawing and science halls, an administration block and a library.

While the vocational institute with an area of 19,000 sq-ft would have five classrooms, an administration block, a science lab, drawing and library halls, and a workshop.

Construction of the school and vocational institution would be completed in Dec 2006 and March 2007 respectively.

He said the government was trying to promote quality education and was taking steps for teachers’ training, so that literacy ratio could be improved.

MPA Muhammad Abbas Jaffery, District Officer Health and Education Syed Zahid Ali Shah, DO Education Mazeeduddin Siddiqui, Town Municipal Officer Dr Zafar Zaidi were also present.—PPI
