Daniyal leads

LAHORE, June 28: Three-day trials to select Pakistan junior team and a women’s team for two different golf events started at the Lahore Gymkhana on Tuesday. A six-member junior team will feature in the Hong Kong Junior championship to be held in August while a three-member women’s team will represent the country in the Islamic Games to be held in Iran in September this year.

In all, 33 youngsters are competing in the trials among them Daniyal Jehangir with a score of one-over-par-73 was the leader on the first day.

Hamza Mir, despite a poor card of five-over-par-77 came out as runner-up of the day, followed by Mohammad Rehman, Aleemur Rehman and Qasim Ali, who were all bracketed at third spot with identical scores of six-over-78.

Six women were competing for three places in the national team with Tahira Nazir and Jameela Jabbar already occupying first and second positions.
