Bail plea of ex-nazim accepted

GUJRANWALA, June 28: The bail application of Kharian ex-tehsil nazim Nadim Asghar Kaira in a police attack case was accepted by the anti-terrorism court no 2 here on Tuesday.

Mr Kaira had allegedly attacked the police station to get one Ziauddin released a few weeks ago.

However, the ex-nazim was not released as he was involved in another case of corruption.

DEATH AWARDED: A local court handed down death sentence with a fine of Rs200,000 to one Muhammad Ishaq in a murder case here on Tuesday.

He will have to undergo six-month additional hard jail in case of non-payment of fine. Ishaq had killed Sarwar on refusal to pay jagga tax in Wahando Tambooli on Feb 8 this year.

HEARING: The anti-terrorism court no 2 on Tuesday continued hearing in the murder case of PPP city president Chaudhry Khalid Humayun and recorded statements of two witnesses DSP Javed Iqbal and SI Sakhawat Ali.—Correspondent
