SAHIWAL, June 28: Residents of Chak 73/4-R, 74/4-R and other villages on Tuesday demonstrated against Mepco for 12-hour daily loadshedding from Qadirabad feeder. Reports said the protesters besieged office of the manager (operations) and pelted stones. However, the officials whisked away. They said four children — Munir Ahmad Gurdaspuri, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Ismail and Muhammad Akram of Chak 73/4-R — had died from heatwave as loadshedding had rendered living conditions miserable.

Later, the police dispersed them. The authorities have ordered action against those responsible for unscheduled loadshedding.
