KARACHI: Muttahida extends invitations for APC

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 28: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday approached mainstream political parties and invited them to participate in the All Parties Conference to be organized by the MQM on July 3.

In separate telephone calls to MMA chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman, and PPP parliamentary party chief Makhdoom Amin Fahim, the All Parties Conference organizing committee chief Dr Farooq Sattar invited them to participate in the conference.

Farooq Sattar will also call on Qazi Hussain Ahmad in Islamabad on Wednesday to personally deliver the invitation for the conference.

Maulana Fazalur Rehman assured Dr Sattar that he would attend the conference. Makhdoom Amin, however, said that he would discuss the matter with his party leaders.

Meanwhile, Nasreen Jalil and Kunwar Khalid Yunus called on Pir Pagara at the Kingri House to deliver the invitation for the conference.

Dr Sattar also went to Jamia Usmania and delivered the invitation to Qari Mohammad Usman of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.

The MQM has formed a 10-member committee to carry out preparations in connection with the APC.

According to the committee, the APC is aimed at formulating a joint strategy so that local government elections could be held in a peaceful manner.
