Vaughan hopes to play today

BIRMINGHAM, June 27: England captain Michael Vaughan expects to recover from a groin strain in time for England’s day/night match against Australia on Tuesday at Edgbaston. Vaughan suffered the injury in a win over Bangladesh last week. Marcus Trescothick has deputised twice since.

“I’m just resting it and it’s getting better by the day,” said Vaughan. “I can’t say for definite but I’m hoping to be back. I hate not playing.”

England and Australia also face off in Saturday’s NatWest Series final.
