Sindh Muslim struggle into final

KARACHI, June 27: Sindh Muslim Club (SMC) struggled into the final of All-Karachi Nazir Hussain memorial football tournament edging out Young Haqqani Club 7- 5 on penalty kicks in a nail-biting second semifinal at Hussaini Club ground on Sunday. SMC will now face Korangi Rangers Club in the final on Sunday next.

SMC got the first breakthrough in the early stages when forward Shaukat Ali connected a brilliant cross from left-out Sohail in the 10th minute of the match, followed by a goal from Sarfaraz just two minutes later. This put SMC 2-0 ahead at the end of the first half.

Young Haqqani bounced back in the second half and managed to score in the 55th minute through striker Rehmat Ali. They levelled the score three minutes later when Jehangir struck with a header.

The score levelled at 2-2 after the end of real time, thus pushing the match into penalty kicks phase.

The winners scored five times while Young Haqqani lost two of their chances.

Sarfaraz was named Man-of-The-Semifinal for his impressive goal with a header.—PPI
