Zafran’s century in vain

KARACHI, June 27: Despite an unbeaten knock of 115 by Zafran Hussain, Maersk suffered a 52-run defeat against Siemens in the fifth AKU Sports and Rehabilitation Centre cricket tournament at the weekend. In other matches, both AKU teams, ‘A’ and ‘B’, scored victories against U-Fone and Engro respectively. Glaxo-Smith Kline also finished winners over Reckitt Benkiser.

Summarised scores:

AKU ‘B’ beat Engro by four wickets.

ENGRO 149 in 23.2 overs (Raja Ahmed 49, Ahmer Nazeer 34; Naeem Madani 4-27, Imran 2-19, Karim Khan 2-23); AKU ‘B’ 150-6 in 23.2 overs (Naeem Madani 31, Jahangir 25 not out, Imran 23 not out, Karim Khan 20; Raja Ahmed 3-31, Syed Atiquddin 2-24).

Siemens beat Maersk by 52 runs.

SIEMENS 262-7 in 25 overs (Imran Saeed 62, Mohammad Iqbal 45 not out, Arshad Majeed 43, Mohammad Yasir 40; Sarwar Ghori 3-36, Mohammad Tauseef 2-44); MAERSK 210-4 in 25 overs (Zafran Hussain 115 not out, Sarwar Ghori 68; Mohammad Arif 2-39).

GSK beat Reckitt Benkiser by three wickets.

RECKITT BENKISER 147 in 21.4 overs (Ashraf Majeed 37, Osama Ebrahim 29; Atif Shah 4-38, Mushahid Raza 3-13, Tauseef Ahmed 2-32); GSK 151-7 in 21.5 overs (Sohail Khawaja 41, Abdul Mateen 35, Atif Shah 20; Hassan Idrees 3-20, Zubair Ali 2-25).

AKU ‘A’ beat U-Fone by five wickets.
