Girls outshine boys in SSC exam

ISLAMABAD, June 27: Girls outshone boys by bagging four of the top six positions in the Secondary School Certificate Part-II annual examination results, both in science and humanities groups, announced by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) here on Monday. A total of 41,688 candidates appeared in the examination, of which 36,705 passed it, giving a success ratio of 88.37 per cent.

In the overall science group, Mehwish Imtiaz (Roll No 133817) of Marghallah Academy HIT, Taxila Cantonment, bagged first position by securing 999 marks. Mehreen Ali (136486) of Army Public School and College 208, Hamayun Road, Rawalpindi, with 998 marks secured second place, and Mohammad Hasham Sarwar (109342) of F.G. Boys Public School, Multan Cantonment, came third by bagging 990 marks.

Among the boys of the science group, Mohammad Hasham Sarwar (109342) of the F.G. Boys Public School, Multan Cantonment, topped with 990 marks, followed by Mohammad Rehan Raza (103668) of the F.G. Boys Public School G-9/4, Islamabad, with 989 marks and Ubaidur Rehman Dogar (112533) of the Garrison Boys High School, Tufail Road, Lahore Cantonment, came third with 985 marks.

Among the girls of the science group, Mehwash Imtiaz (133817) of the Margallah Academy HIT, Taxila Cantonment, bagged first position. The second position went to Mehreen Ali (136486) of the Army Public School and College 208, Hamayun Road, Rawalpindi, who secured 998 marks. With 986 marks, Aeiman Fatima (133827) of Marghallah Academy HIT, Taxila Cantonment, came third among the girls.

Girls also shone in the humanities (general) group by bagging the top two positions.

Iram Mustafa (181187) of F.G. Girls Model School G-8/4, Islamabad topped the general group by obtaining 921 marks. She was followed by Maryam Khalid (182139) of Ghazali College for Women Bhara Kahu (F.A), Islamabad, who secured 900 marks.

In the humanities group, a private student Hafiz Asad Ali (150979) obtained 899. Hafiz Asad Ali is on the top in the humanities section’s boys group. Two other private candidates, Hafiz Mohammad Minhas Abbasi (150969) and Hafiz Saeedur Rehman (150961) came second and third by securing 884 and 883 marks, respectively.

After Iram Mustafa and Mariam Khalid, who stood first and second in the overall humanities group, Uzma Gulistan (183728), Iqbal Academy PMO JS HQ, Taxila Cantonment, came third in this category by securing 889 marks.

According to an official notification, the SSC supplementary examination, 2005, will commence from September 10, 2005. The candidates can submit their admission forms with normal fee till July 15. Admission forms could be submitted to the FBISE with late fee of an extra Rs100 from July 16 to July 25 or with double fee from July 26 to August 4.

After August 4, no admission form would be entertained.

Candidates who mail their admission forms to the board must dispatch the mail at least three days before the last specified date to avoid payment of extra fee and rejection of admission forms.

The admission fee for science and humanities group with subjects having practical is Rs225 for SSC Part-I and Rs275 for SSC Part-II. The admission fee for Part-I and II with subjects having practical is Rs500.

The fee structure for humanities group with subjects having practical is Rs200 for SSC-I and Rs250 for SCC-II, and Rs450 for both part one and two. For the improvement of marks/grade, candidates would have to deposit Rs150 per subject besides admission fee as applicable.

For additional subject, the admission fee is Rs300.

The ex/private candidates from Islamabad and Rawalpindi may remit their fee either by pay order, bank draft or directly in the board’s account through bank challan at Habib Bank, FBISE Branch, H-8/4, Islamabad.

Candidates belonging to other areas may remit their fee only through pay order in favour of the Controller of Examinations (conduct), FBISE, Islamabad, drawable at Islamabad and must provide information regarding the candidate’s name, father’s name and nature of fee on the back side of the pay order or bank draft.

The pre-printed computerized admission forms bearing scanned photographs of candidates who failed in the SSC annual examination, 2005, are being sent to the heads of the institutions concerned who would issue them to the candidates concerned along with their result cards.
