WASHINGTON, June 26: President General Pervez Musharraf has said that his vision of a strong, vibrant, stable and moderate Pakistan was based on his faith in the people of Pakistan.
In a message to the 13th annual Pakistan-US summit held under the aegis of Pakistan American Congress, the president expressed the confidence that “desired results can and will be achieved.”
He said 150 million people of Pakistan have enormous potential to excell in many areas. “Their intelligence, their dynamism and their ability to learn are second to none.”
The president said “what is required is the unlocking of creative energies of the people.”
“Let us make Pakistan a better place to live in and bequeath a stronger country to our current and future generations,” he urged.
In this behalf, Gen Musharraf spelt out a seven-point agenda i.e.rebuild national confidence and morale; strengthen federation, remove inter-provincial disharmony and restore national cohesion; devolution of power to the grass roots level; revive economy and restore investor confidence; ensure law and order and dispense speedy justice; depoliticize state institutions; and, ensure swift and across the board accountability.—APP
