HYDERABAD: Jamshoro district to get Rs2 billion for development: Gorakh hill station to be completed soon: CM

HYDERABAD, June 26: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that Rs2 billion had been allocated for Jamshoro district. He said work on the Gorakh hill-station would be carried out and the provincial finance department would soon release 40 per cent of its allocations.
He said Runikot (an ancient fort in Jamshoro district) would be developed as a tourist resort.
He was speaking at a public meeting organized by Adviser Zaman Shah Jillani in Kotri on Saturday night.
The chief minister also announced a special package of Rs50 million for the development of Kotri town.
He said a filter plant at a cost of Rs100 million, a flyover and a bridge would be constructed in Kotri.
He said the toll tax on the Kotri bridge would be abolished because the president had given consent in this connection.
Mr Arbab said small dams would be constructed in the Kohistan area for cultivating barren land.
He said teachers would be appointed on merit for 73 closed schools.
He said all development schemes would be completed within stipulated period for uplift of remote areas and improving living standard of the people.
He criticized opponents of new districts and said they were not sincere with people because creation of districts would not only solve problems of common man but help uplift of areas.
He promised cooperation of the Sindh government to local governments but cautioned that corrupt nazims would not be tolerated.
“The nazims will be taken to task if they did not cooperate with the government and involved themselves in corruption” he said.
He said it was imperative that PML candidates should be supported and elected in the next local bodies elections to usher in an era of prosperity and development.
He called upon the people to participate in the next local government elections and elect those who were sincere with them for resolution of their grievances.
He said in fiscal year 2005-06 funds were earmarked for rapid development in Jamshoro district.
He asked the DCO to regularize katchi abadis of Kotri and assured jobs for local people in industries of Kotri and Nooriabad industrial estates.
Adviser Zaman Shah highlighted problems being faced by the people of the area.
hcci: Dr Arbab announced establishment of two water treatment plants, one each for the Kotri industrial area and Hyderabad industrial sites to solve outstanding issue of disposal of industrial effluent and to ensure safe environmental conditions of areas.
At a meeting with representatives of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (HCC&I) and Kotri Association of Trade and Industries (KATI) at circuit house on Saturday night, he said President Musharraf had also announced four treatment plants — one each in Korangi, North Nazimabad, FB area and Site Karachi.
Secretary industries, commerce, labour and transport Nasir Hayat, MD Site, the senior member of the Sindh Board of Revenue, Syed Anwar Haider and DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed were present.
The chief minister directed the senior member of the BoR to resolve problem of land allotment for Hyderabad Site extension within couple of days.
He directed the member of the BoR to conduct survey for allotment of more land for extension of Kotri industrial area and submit report within shortest possible time.
He accorded sanction for 172 teaching posts for boys and girls degree college Kotri Site for to ensure functioning of the college.
He said the sports complex in Kotri at a cost of Rs9 million be completed in the shortest possible time.
