Kashif grabs golds


KARACHI, June 25: International sharpshooter Kashif Riaz of Pakistan Navy snatched his second gold medal on the second day of the 12th Sindh shooting championship at Naval Shooting Range winning the centre-fire pistol on Saturday.

Kashif, 28, a SAF Games team silver medallist, won his first gold in standard pistol by 547/600 on Friday. He showed his class with precision targeting to capture his second gold with 721/890. Col Javed Umer made it to the second and Saqib Ikram came third.

Sindh’s Usman Sadiq clinched the trap gold with 86/100. Lt Cdr S A Noor finished second, a point behind, while three points adrift was A Rahim with 83/100.

Muhammad Akmal grabbed the air pistol event with 350/400. M Gulfraz was second and Dr Asadullah was third.

Mehar Yaqoob won the women’s air pistol gold with 348/400 while Sobia finished second and Tania Anand third position.

In the under-16 juniors’ competition, Hasnan Abbas performed outstandingly pocketing point 22 air rifle gold with a score of 97/100.

Second day results:

Trap (men): 1. Usman Sadiq 86/100, 2. Lt Cdr S A Noor 85/100, 3. A Rahim 82/100.

Rapid fire pistol (men): 1. Kashif Riaz 721/890, 2. Col. Javed Umer 692.5/890, 3. Saqib Ikram 691.3/890.

Air pistol (men): 1. M Akmal 350/400, 2. M Gulfraz 348/40, 3. Dr Asadullah Hussain 347/400.

Air pistol (women): 1. Mehar Yaqoob 348/400, 2. Sobia 334/400, 3. Tania Anand 263/400.

Juniors (under-16) .22 rifle: 1. Bilal Ahmed 184/200, 2. Saud Khan 153/200, 3. Zain Saud 149/200.

Under-13: 1. Hasnain Abbas 97/100, 2. Mahnoor Mobin 83/100, 3. Jazib 76/100.—APP
