THATTA, June 25: Twin towns, Thatta and Makli, experienced major power breakdowns after one of the newly-installed oil circuit breakers of the Thatta grid station caught fire on Friday. Both the towns and surrounding villages remained without power for about 23 hours.

As a result the people faced hardships particularly the patients at the civil hospital.

Routine trade activities remained suspended due to power failure.

The situation worsened as municipal authorities failed to operate water pumping machines and there was an acute water shortage in the towns.

Hesco deputed special teams and restored power on Saturday.
