NWFP to have nine more TV boosters

ABBOTTABAD, June 25: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ms Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli has said that nine more TV boosters will be installed in the NWFP during the current fiscal year. Talking to journalists at the Abbottabad Press Club here on Saturday, she said press clubs and bar associations played vital role in strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country.

Strength of institutions was the strength of civil society, she said and asked the public to take part in the forthcoming local body’s elections so that the best lot could be elected to the district governments.

Now Pakistan was on the right track, she said and urged people to think collectively for the resolution of civic problems. She urged reporters to promote healthy journalism in society.

Earlier, the president of Abbottabad press club, Sardar Abrar Rasheed, briefed the minister about the press club activities and demanded that the regional journalists should be included in the national and international tours of high government functionaries.

He also demanded workshops for local journalists.

LOOTED: A bank official was deprived of Rs 300,000 cash and prize bonds by unidentified bandits riding a motorcycle near the main chowk in Abbottabad city on Monday.

An MCB official, Nadir Saeed, was carrying the cash and prize bonds near the Pine View chowk when two motorcyclists snatched the bag from him and ran away.
