KARACHI: MMA leaders call on CS

KARACHI, June 25: A delegation of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, led by MNA Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, called on Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman at his office here on Saturday. Hafiz Muhammad Taqi, MPA Nasrullah Shajji, Town Nazim Landhi M. Shahid and Sheikh Rafiq were among the delegation, who discussed with the chief secretary about law and order situation of the city with specific reference to incidents like killing of Mufti Atiqur Rehman and former MPA Aslam Mujahid and other mishaps during the last one year and forthcoming local bodies elections.

The chief secretary expressed grief over the killings and assured that the administration would put in its best efforts to trace out the culprits and also to maintain peace and harmony in the province. Impartiality would be ensured in maintaining law and order, he added.

He assured that every possible effort would be made to conduct non-party basis local bodies polls peacefully by deploying adequate security personnel.

He expressed hope that all segments of society would cooperate in maintaining peaceful atmosphere during the elections.
