LAHORE, June 24: Punjab PPP president Qasim Zia has called for a report from the divisional presidents of his party on the applications received for the local elections. The party had set June 20 as the deadline to receive applications from all candidates desirous of taking part in the local elections.
Qasim Zia has sent a letter to the divisional presidents that they should send their reports by July 2.
PPP MEETING: The Lahore Coordination Committee of the PPP is meeting here on Saturday to discuss the party’s likely candidate for the office of the Lahore district nazim.
The meeting has been called on the instructions from Ms Benazir Bhutto. Secretary-general Jehangir Badr will preside over the meeting to be held at the residence of Khalid Kharal.
JUP POLLS: The provincial elections of the JUP will be held here on Sunday.
As many as 297 members of the Shoora will elect the new office-bearers. Polling will be held at Jamia Muhammadia Rizvia, Gulberg.
