Mansehra hit by water shortage

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, June 24: Frequent power breakdowns, voltage fluctuations and unannounced load-shedding coupled with suspension of water supply by the TMA have brought life to a complete standstill in Mansehra and adjoining areas which continued to sizzle in an unprecedented heatwave.

After experiencing a harsh winter season earlier this year when a record three feet snowfall was recorded in Mansehra town and up to 16 feet in the hilly areas of Kaghan, Konsh and Bhogarmang valleys, the area is witnessing an extremely hot weather.

The apathy of the Peshawar Electric supply Company (Pesco) and the Tehsil Municipal Administration of Mansehra is adding to the miseries of area people.

Frequent power suspensions by Pesco on the pretext of repair work and stoppage of water supply by the TMA for over five days to various parts of the town have affected the civic life and business activities in the area.

According to sources, the main reason behind water shortage is the corrupt staff of the TMA as water was available in huge supply.
