Govt schools fare badly in SSC exams

SWABI, June 24: Government-run educational institutions have fared badly in the secondary school certificate examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Mardan, according to data collected by Dawn.

Forty-eight students appeared from the Government High School Kalabat, but none of them passed the examination. Another 10 students of Utman Public School, Topi, and eight students of Malikabad School also failed.

The schools that recorded results below 20 per cent included Saleem Khan No. 1, Shewa, Baja and Haryan and schools with a pass percentage between 21 and 30 were Government High School Swabi, Serai, Sikandari, Zaida, Kotha, Topi, Chota Lahore, Sheikh Dheri, Kunda, Sudher, Jehangira and Doubian.

The schools that posted results above 30 and below 50 included Beka, Kalu Khan, Ismalia, Sheikh Jana, Managi, Shahmansoor, Gar Munara and Jalbai.

In the ninth class humanities group (girls), only 13 students of government-run Maneri School were declared passed out of 107, Marghuz 35 out of 92, Maini 9 out 63, Beka 3 out of 19, Manki 9 out of 52, Jehangira

8 out of 34 and Tordher 7 out

of 114.

In the humanities groups (boys), 3 out of 150 of Swabi school were passed, Saleem Khan 10 out of 52, Serai 2 out of 55, Mansabdar 7 out of 70, Islamia 2 out of 153, Naranji 9 out of 48, Shewa 3 out of 123, Sheikh Jana 8 out of 116 and Managi 2 out 33.

Similarly only 3 students out of 27 of Asota School were passes, Hund 1 out of 29, Panjpir 7 out of 87, Dagai 14 out of 132, Sikandari 6 out of 59, Shahmansoor 3 out of 39, Batakara 4 out of 38, Qadra 1 out of 11, Malikabad 1 out of 9, Naro Banda 3 out of 16, Ganichatra 3 out 21, Utla 9 out of 40, Lahor 10 out of 62 and Sheikh Dheri 6 out of 36.

In Ayub Khan Killi, nine out of 68, Doubian 4 out 130, Yar Hussian No one 6 out of 83, Yar Hussian No two 9 out of 66, Sudher 1 out of 9, Jehangira 11 out of 38, Jalbai 3 out of 48, Jalsai 1 out of 59, Tordher 1 out of 117, Manki 2 out of 45 and Beka 1 out of 43 boys were declared successful.

None of the ninth class students (boys) of government high school Bazar, Tano, Kunda and Haryan passed the examination. A girl who appeared from Gabasani School also failed the examination.

In comparison to government schools, private schools recorded better results in both the Matric and ninth class examinations.
