Germany to expel Afghan refugees

BERLIN, June 24: The German federal government and 16 German states agreed on Friday to send back numbers of refugees from Afghanistan and Kosovo and to return Iraqi refugees once the situation in their country stabilizes.

The measure will affect mostly single Afghan men resident in Germany for less than six years and anyone with a criminal record or considered a danger for Germany’s security.

Interior Minister Otto Schily and his regional counterparts agreed that Afghan refugees could stay in the country for the time being if they had been here for more than six years and had a job, had dependent children or were engaged on an apprenticeship.—AFP
