NAWABSHAH, June 23: Hundreds of residents of Bandhi town, led by Ahsan Jamali and Raza Jamali, blocked the Nawabshah-Kumb link road to protest against the Hesco for unannounced load-shedding and issuance of detection bills. The protesters reached at the link road after passing through various thoroughfares.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders said that they were living in hell as there was no electricity in the Bandhi town for two days and Hesco authorities had failed to restore electric supply.

They accused Hesco officials for creating artificial load-shedding and issuing detection bills to consumers.

Daur TPO Syed Latif Shah reached the spot and assured protesters that their problems would be solved after which the protesters dispersed and traffic was restored.

GUPCHHANI UC: Residents of the union council of Gupchhani staged a protest demonstration, burnt tyres and blocked road at Cheeralabad against the Sindh government’s decision to include the Gupchhani UC in Daur taluka here on Thursday.

The protesters wearing black armbands blocked the Nawabshah-Gupchhani link road and burnt tyres. The protesters demanded inclusion of the Gupchhani union council in Nawabshah taluka and provide justice to them.

Meanwhile, residents of Jam Saheb and Jhuro Sher union councils observed a token hunger strike at the main Jam Saheb Chowk against the inclusion of their union councils in Daur taluka on Thursday.

Members of the action committee, including Abdullah Shar, Naib Nazim of the Jam Saheb union council, Rajab Rind, Naib Nazim the Jhuro Shar union council, councillors Rafiq Ahmed, Ranjhan Shar, Ameer Lashari and others observed a token hunger strike.

They said that injustice was being done with them by the Sindh government by including their union councils in Daur taluka which is far away from Nawabshah.

They warned to continue their protest and threatened to move the court if their UCs were not included in Nawabshah taluka.

Meanwhile, dozens of JSQM activists, led by Mustafa Dahri, took out a protest rally against inclusion of the Jam Saheb union council in Daur taluka.

The rally started from the Shahpur bus stop and culminated at the main chowk. They demanded inclusion of the Jam Saheb UC in Nawabshah taluka.

PTCL LINEMAN ELECTROCUTED: A PTCL lineman was electrocuted while performing his duty in Sumaira Colony here on Thursday.

Makhan Chachar, PTCL lineman of the Nawabshah division, while working on a PTCL pole touched 11kv live electric wire and fell down. He was rushed to the People’s Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

PTCL employees have demanded of the chairman of PTCL for compensation to the deceased employee and job for the deceased’s son.
