‘No wrong blasphemy case to be registered’

ISLAMABAD, June 23: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Ijazul Haq has said no wrong case would be registered against any individual after some procedural changes made by the government in the blasphemy laws and Hudood Ordinance. The minister was talking to a two-member delegation of US State Department comprising Director Policy Planning Dr Stephen Krasner and Danial Marky, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

He said curriculum taught in medressahs was being improved and the government would soon reach a final decision in this regard.

Mr Haq said the government would appreciate introduction of contemporary education in medressahs simultaneously.

He said Inter-Madaras Board proposal presented by the government would help them compile syllabus and prepare examination paper and finally lead to encourage the registration of more madressahs in the country.

The minister said presently contemporary education was being imparted in 2400 madressahs Madaras of the country. The US delegation appreciated the role of Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and extremism.
