KARACHI: Young man drowns off Clifton beach

KARACHI, June 23: The body of a young man was washed ashore on the Clifton beach on Thursday. Police said the body was found on the beach near Bilawal House. It was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post mortem.

Following the legal formalities, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification.

ACCIDENT: A man was crushed to death by a speeding truck in SITE on Thursday.

Police said Furnai, 52, was on his motorcycle when a speeding truck hit him near the Siemens roundabout in SITE.

The errant driver escaped leaving the truck behind. The victim was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

DACOITY<>/b>: Armed men robbed a travel agency off I.I. Chundrigar Road on Thursday.

Police said the suspects barged into the travel agency and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint. They collected cash and valuables including cellphones from the staff and customers.

The six suspects before fleeing locked the staff and customers in a room telling them not to come out for an hour.

Police said that the exact amount of the cash taken away could not be ascertained.
