KARACHI: Promotion scam


KARACHI, June 23: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamdia Khuhro, taking notice of the complaints about irregularities in the promotions at various levels in the education department has asked the education secretary to examine all cases of promotions and submit a report. It had been brought into the knowledge of the minister that illegal promotions of teaching and non-teaching staff had been given at the district level and by the department’s secretariat as well in which junior officials had been promoted by showing them senior.

These complaints have been received from Dadu, Thatta, Jacobabad and some other districts.

Dr Khuhro ordered for stern action against officers involved in such irregularities.

She also ordered for the demotion of those officials, who had been promoted by violating seniority.

Dr Khuhro also took very serious notice of a news item appeared in a section of the press regarding closure of 36 out of 60 girls’ schools in the newly created district Kambar-Shahdadkot and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

She ordered the EDOs to take all possible steps to promote school enrolment. — PPI
