Delhi to help Kabul install power line


NEW DELHI, June 23: India’s cabinet on Thursday approved a 4.78 billion rupee grant to fund a power line from Uzbekistan to Kabul, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said.

“The expenditure will be in the nature of assistance to Afghanistan and besides acting as a catalytic agent to speed up economic rehabilitation and development of the region, the projects will enhance India’s presence and profile in Afghanistan,” Mukherjee said.—AFP
