Water supply hit by load-shedding

By Our Correspondent

ABBOTTABAD, June 22: Life is completely paralyzed in Abbottabad due to unscheduled load-shedding for the last few days. The power outage has also created a shortage of potable water in different areas rendering most of the tube-wells in the area inoperative.

Pesco has failed to comply with the directives of the federal minister, who had announced that there would be no load shedding anywhere in the country.

The people said three to four hours load shedding in the city was creating problems for the residents. Power disruption also caused difficulties for the tourists from other parts of the country, they said.

They have demanded that the authorities should look into the situation arising out of the frequent load shedding in the area.

UPGRADED: The NWFP government has upgraded the Havelian town council to tehsil level.

This was stated by Local Bodies Minister Sardar Idrees while talking to journalists on telephone from Peshawar on Wednesday. He said that a notification to this effect had also been issued.

He said 14 union councils had been included in the newly-created Havelian tehsil. The remaining 32 union councils of Abbottabad district will fall in the Abbottabad tehsil.

Meanwhile, the government through a notification on Tuesday divided the Sarbahana Phalkot union council into two union councils, Sarbahana and Phalkot, raising the number of union councils to 47 in the district.
