CM backs creation of new talukas

MIRPURKHAS, June 22: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said new talukas are being created for the welfare of the masses as they will be provided with basic facilities. He was talking to journalists after attending a congregation at the spiritual centre here on Wednesday.

He said the government had taken many steps to provide relief to people.

Answering a question, he said an inquiry was being conducted against the Mirpurkhas taluka municipal officer and added that action would be against him if he was found guilty.

Earlier, the chief minister met spiritual groups hailing from different parts of the country.

On Tuesday, Mir Jan Mohammad hosted a reception for the chief minister in the Kot Mir Jan Mohammad village near Naokot.

Talking to the participants, Dr Rahim vowed to protect rights of people of the province.

He said the local bodies had played their due role in providing basic facilities to people and resolving their problems. He urged people to elect honest representatives in the forthcoming local bodies’ elections.

He said maintenance of law and order and solution of problems of people were his government’s priorities.

Dr Rahim said a network of roads was being laid in Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar and Umerkot districts which would enable growers to transport their produce to the market from their farms.

He said the Sindh government had released Rs50 million as a special grant to the DCO for development works in the district.
