HYDERABAD, June 22: Activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarians observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Wednesday to protest against the arrest of party MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari.

Union Council-4 Nazim Jeando Soomro led the protest.

Speaking on the occasion, city PPP acting president Amanullah Siyal said arrests in false cases could not break the spirit of the party workers.

He said the party would continue its struggle for restoration of democracy in the country.

He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the alleged government excesses against the PPP activists.

WAPDA UNION: Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union president Abdul Latif Nizamani has criticized the transfer of Sajan Panhwar, zonal chairman of the Jamshoro power house, to Panjgore.

Talking to Hesco employees at the labour hall here on Wednesday, he demanded that the Wapda chairman should cancel Mr Panhwar’s transfer forthwith to end the unrest among Wapda employees.

He alleged that Wapda officials were harassing office-bearers of the CBA union to hide their corrupt practices.

He warned that the union would give a call for a province-wide strike if the transfer orders of Mr Panhwar were not cancelled in 48 hours.

He called upon Wapda employees to maintain unity in their ranks and file.

The others who spoke on the occasion included union leaders Mohammad Iqbal Qaimkhani, Malik Sultan, Mir Khan Baloch, Qazi Saleem and Anwar.

PAF: The Pakistan Air Force Information and Selection Centre has announced the result of 96 Non-GD Course and advised successful candidates to contact the centre.
