KARACHI: Asif against bifurcation of tehsils

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, June 21: The PPP Senator, Asif Ali Zardari, on Tuesday termed the decision to bifurcate tehsils of Nawabshah, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas on the urban-rural line as a conspiracy to fuel ethnic strife in the province. “It seems that the dwindling support of the allies of the ruling coalition is making them create ethnic strife thus playing a game with the people of the province,” Zardari said in a statement issued by the Bilawal House media cell spokesman Jameel Soomro.

He said that division of administrative units on ethnic or political lines was a dangerous trend, as it could fuel ethnicity in the whole country thus weakening the federation in the long-run.

The PPP would not tolerate such attempts, he said, adding that it would undo all such steps, which were tantamount to hitting the very integrity of the country, he said.
