KARACHI, June 21: The Empolyees Old-Age Benefits Institution on Tuesday declared that the minimum pension of EOBI had been enhanced from Rs700 to Rs1,000 per month from January last as promised by President Musharraf. Now all pensioners of the EOBI who were drawing pension up to Rs999 per month would be paid at least Rs1000 per month. The arrears from January to July 2005 would be paid in August 2005 with the enhanced pension, an EOBI release said.

The EOBI has registered 142 industrial and commercial establishments and 15,500 employees during May 2005. So the total number of the establishments and employees registered with the EOBI is 54,388 and 2248,000 respectively.
