PESHAWAR, June 20: Dr Muhammad Yaqoob retained the title after defeating Dr Nadeem in the final of the 9th NWFP chess championship at PSB Coaching Centre on Monday. He played with D4 adopting attacking position and Nadeem committed a blunder and gave material advantage of exchanges to Dr Yaqoob.

The blunder ultimately caused Dr Nadeem to lose the table and from this point onwards he was not able to stop Dr Yaqoob from doing further damages. Thus Dr Yaqoob won the final.

Dr Yaqoob clinched seven points followed by Abdullah Jan Rehmani who also scored seven points. But on the less rival points, Abdullah Jan was declared second.
