All-round show by Zahid


KARACHI, June 20: A brilliant all-round performance by Zahid Raza helped ABN-Amro Bank beat Cougars by 76 runs in the 5th AKU Sports and Rehabilitation Centre cricket tournament at the AKU ground on Sunday. Batting first, the bankers scored 208 for seven in 25 overs with Salman Butt making 50 and Zahid Raza 45. Zahid then starred with ball by taking three for 25 as Cougars replied with 132 in 19.2 overs.

In another match, hosts AKU ‘A’ overwhelmed Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) by six wickets with Shahid Hussain scoring 50.

In matches played on Saturday, Ufone and AKU ‘B’ defeated Roche Pakistan and Meezan Bank, respectively.

ABN-Amro Bank beat Cougars by 76 runs.

ABN-AMRO BANK 208-7 in 25 overs (Salman Butt 50, Zahid Raza 45, Shiraz Ahmed 37, Nasir Yaqoob 23 not out; Danish Zaidi 2-40, Aamir Shah 2-49); COUGARS 132 in 19.2 overs (Hilal Yaseen 40, Aamir Shah 28; Zahid Raza 3-25, Moazzam 2-11, Rashid Azeem 2-23, Vijay Hazari 2-24).
