BANGKOK, June 19: President Pervez Musharraf and Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra here on Sunday discussed enhancing bilateral ties through increased trade and economic cooperation.
The two leaders met when President Musharraf made a stopover on his way to Islamabad at the end of a week-long visit to Australia and New Zealand.
The Thai prime minister expressed support for full dialogue partnership with Asean. President Musharraf thanked him for extending support in this regard saying that Pakistan wanted to develop its trade and economic relations with Asean members as a part of its vision of East Asia.
The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, including Pakistan-India relations and the fight against terrorism. They also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism.—APP
