KARACHI, June 19: Three persons died in two separate accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday. Two motorcyclists died when a speeding truck knocked them down near Banaras Chowk. Police shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the two victims could not be identified till Sunday night. Following the legal formalities, the bodies were shifted to Edhi morgue for identification.

Police arrested the errant driver of the truck identified as Haroon Rasheed and impounded the vehicle.

In a hit-and-run accident, a young man died in Steel Town.

The victim was identified as Fahad, 25. Police shifted the body to the JPMC for postmortem examination.

RECSUED: Lifeguards of the Emergency Response Centre, Hawksbay, rescued five people from the strong waves at different spots along the coastline on Sunday.

Zafar Khan of the ERC said that people were rescued at Neelam Point, Golden Beach, and Sonara Point. Despite repeated warnings of rough seas, people had thronged the beaches and tried to swim in sea on Sunday to beat the heat. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported.
