CHANDIGARH (India), June 18: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allowed Indian Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) to engage former Pakistan captain Intikhab Alam to train Punjab cricketers for a second season.
PCA secretary M.P. Pandove said the association had requested Indian government for issuing visa to Intikhab.
This will be the second term for former Pakistani coach, who hails from Hoshiarpur, to train Punjab cricketers.
On his first assignment for 180 days with PCA last season, Intikhab had guided Punjab team into Elite Group final of Ranji Trophy after more than a decade.
As Punjab captain Dinesh Mongia, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh were doing national duty, Punjab lost to Indian Railways in the final at PCA ground here.
PCA executive committee after reviewing his overall performance gave green signal to extend Intikhab’s tenure for another term.—Agencies
