PTA claims three finals

LAHORE, June 18: Punjab Tennis Academy (PTA) won three finals against two by Chandigarh Tennis Academy (CTA) in different categories as the three-day competition between them ended at the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association courts in Bagh-i-Jinnah on Saturday.

Punjab’s Tanvir Ashiq won the boys’ U-18 title beating compatriot Omer Babar easily in the final 8-5.

Dig Vijay Singh defeated Shaizan Khurram 8-2 to win the boys’ U-12 final.

He was also on the verge of earning a double crown by leading 6-5 against Shaizan Khurram in U-12 final when poor visibility forced the match to be abandoned.

Nabiha Haq (PTA) trounced Qurat-ul-Ain (PTA) 8-4 to win the ladies’ final.

Shaleen Chandra (CTA) won the U-14’s girls final beating compatriot Sonali Bansil 8-5. Rao Iftikhar and Zahid Zafar fought hard to win the seniors’doubles title notching up 8-6 win against Nauman Aleem and Laeeq Pirzada.

Results:

U-18 boys: Tanvir Ashiq bt Omer Babar 8-5.

U-12 boys: Dig Vijay Singh bt Shaizan Khurram 8-2. Ladies: Nabiha Haq bt Qurat-ul-Ain 8-4.

U-14 girls: Shaleen Chandara bt Sonali Bansil 8-5. Seniors’ doubles: Rao Iftikhar and Zahid Zafar bt Nauman Aleem and Laeeq Pirzada 8-6.
