KARACHI, June 18: Competing from East-West direction, Afzal Shaikh-Saeed Ansari once again proved their mettle winning the KBA bridge pairs title by an impressive score of 59.63 per cent, says a press release on Saturday.

The pair penalized their opponents on various boards with their overbidding. Close on their heels were Khalid Mohiuddin-Mustafa Saif who finished second 57.45 per cent displaying versatility in bidding and dummy-handling art.

The veteran pair of Mazhar Ali Khan-Shoaib Khan finished third 56.55 per cent. The last board against Asghar Abbas-Navaid Zafar made all the difference.

In the other house, a young pair of Adnan Dada-Nadeem Khalid registered their first win since they have joined KBA’s regular bridge programme a couple of months before. The pair scored 58.4 per cent for the top spot.

Wazir Durani-Shahab Saeed scored 57.18 per cent for the second berth while Dr. Ikram-Hasnain scored 55.63 per cent for the third spot.—APP
