Issey Miyake should triumph

By Ian Fyfe

KARACHI, June 18: The five-year-old bay horse Issey Miyake, participating in a small field in the fifth race, is our day’s best for Sunday racing programme which gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse from 2-30 p.m.

In a small field consisting of only seven runners, Issey Miyake should wrest the initiative from the rest of the field and gallop to victory in the fifth event, followed home by the bay mare Sonia.

With the main event cancelled only six events have been drawn up for the afternoon’s programme, all to be contested over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.

In the opener, the roan mare Piyari Mehbooba burdened to carry a crushing weight of 9-4 on her back is our fancy to win her five furlong sprint closely followed home by bay horse Royal Wisdom, going all out to prove us wrong. Bank Manager could win the third slot in this race.

The second race has a poor field of only six runners and if all goes well the chestnut seven-year-old horse Golden Copy should win the race hands down, chased throughout the five furlong journey by Kinjher.

In a much bigger field, 14 runners will be participating for the top honours in the next event. In this race bay filly Smiling Face with M. Nasir on board, should win the race from dark bay horse Free Spirit, with Silver Sweet trained by Cajetan Colaco grabbing the third slot from Street Fighter.

The fourth event has 11 runners in the race and the thoroughbred bay horse Danehill Dancer if ticking, should gallop to victory ahead of Gold Disc, Trust Me and Ladla.

The same could be said about much talked about chestnut filly Butter Fly in the concluding race. On Sunday the Bin Nashwan-Gold Coin sibling was beaten by 1 ¼ lengths by Fantastic Again after storming in from behind.

Butter Fly will find the thoroughbred bay colt Blue Breeze a tough customer to contain, with the bay colt Arab Hi Arab happy to finish in third place.
