LAHORE, June 18: The thoroughbred, three-year-old chestnut mare, Red Rock, who was twice beaten to second place in her two outings, should win the feature event during the Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.
Contesting in the seventh and last race, the Charsadha Plate, class IV division I, handicap race to be run over a sprinting distance of 1200m ,there are seven contenders barring last-minute withdrawals.
This mare from Shogun out-of-Venturist Gold, Red Rock was beaten by Lucky Winner over 1300m on May 22 last and then by Mumtaz Mahal over 1200m on June 5. She should make amends this time and win the race.
Three-year-old filly, Who Dares and six-year-old gelding, Young Emperor will, however, prove a constant thorn on her way home.
The five-year-old gelding, End Play, ran an impressive race, when he finished third behind Decent Proposal and Night Beauty over 1200m.
He looks set for stealing the honour in the sixth and supporting event to be run over 1200m
His close rivals could be Eid and Squash Ball. This is a class IV division II handicap race.
Three-year-old filly, High Dream with Aamar Parvaiz in the saddle is on course for making amends for his defeat in previous outings in the fifth race over 1200m.
Lucky Mayla and Green Street are the next bet in the same order.
In the first race that commences at 1.30pm Lovely Diana, Double Deal and Asif Love are on chance.
The gelding Asif Love was very poorly handled by his rider and he escaped unscathed.
Any how, Lovely Diana was beaten due to her first try out after a long time, she should run well this time if sent with a will to do so.
The racing fans should witness a keen contest in the second race.
In all, there are 18 runners, if there is no last-minute withdrawal. At least six of them are in with a chance, making it an open affair.
Happy Moon and Green Hill are the speedy animals to pick up the spoils in the third race. On handicap Happy Moon is better placed to edge out Green Hill in this class V division II handicap race over 1200m.
The fourth race is packed with good sprinters. However, it has been seen when more chance horses are there in a race, most of them are not sent out on try run.
In such a situation the front-runner always gets advantage and wins. That makes the things going in way of five-year-old gelding, Cross Ruff. A card of seven races, two going over
1100 metres and the other five over 1200m will be seen through. The first race will be held at 1.30pm.
