SIALKOT, June 17: Two maternity hospitals will be established in Bajwat area to provide timely and quality medical care to the women in need at a total cost of Rs0.5 million.

Federal parliamentary secretary for Cabinet Division MNA Dr Fardous Ashiq Awan stated this, talking to journalists on Thursday.

Women of 85 villages in Bajwat had been left at the mercy of traditional birth attendants in the absence of any maternity healthcare facilities in the far-flung area, she said.

She expressed concern over the plight of these women who had to travel to Sialkot and other places for getting emergency maternity facilities. Many women died because of delayed provision of medical care, she added.

MURDERS: A landlord allegedly shot dead his wife and daughter over the suspicion of loose morals in Ghukal village, Daska, on Friday.

It is learnt that Shah Nawaz’s wife Naziran and daughter Firdous had developed illicit relations with Nawan Pind’s youth Navid. Naziran had eloped with her paramour six months ago and reportedly returned home on Friday.

Shah Nawaz got enraged and shot Naziran and Firdous dead.

Bambaanwala police have registered a case with no arrest.

ROBBERS KILL TWO: Robbers shot dead two people, including a woman, on offering resistance in separate incidents on Thursday night.

Three robbers stormed into the house of a retired army personnel Muhammad Arshad in Qadirabad, Pasrur tehsil, and held his family at gunpoint. His wife put up resistance and robbers shot and killed her on the spot.
