KARACHI: Gutka stocks seized

KARACHI, June 17: On the directive of EDO Health, the District Officer Health Regulation and Quality Control along with a team of food inspectors confiscated 5kg ‘gutka’ from Landhi, Korangi, Orangi, Shoe Market and Mahmoodabad.

According to the city government’s spokesman, legal action is being taken against those selling gutka.

DO Health Regulation said that those involved in this trade were enemies of public health and warned them to refrain from such heinous business or else strict legal action would be taken against them.

WALK: Fatima Jinnah Dental College has planned a walk on Sunday to create awareness among the masses against gutka, betel nuts.

Dr Baqar Askary of the dental college appealed to citizens to participate in the walk for public awareness on the dangers and hazards of the banned carcinogenic products.

The walk will begin from mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam and participants will be given vouchers for treatment at the Fatima Jinnah Dental Hospital.

Dr Baqar hailed the step of City Nazim Niamatullah Khan of imposing ban on gutka, chalia, mainpuri.—Agencies
