KARACHI, June 17: A Rs640.0925 million budget of Saddar Town for the year 2005-06, showing a surplus of Rs2.178 million was approved by the town’s council which met under the chairmanship of its Convener Mohammed Wazir Rahbar here on Thursday.
The budget, putting expenditure at Rs637.847 million, was presented by Nazim of the town Farooq Fariya Memon. The anticipated revenue estimated at Rs498 million will come from the Sindh government and CDGK while an amount of Rs79 million from the town’s own sources and Rs72 million from capital income.
Addressing the session, Mr Wazir Rahbar welcomed allocation of Rs36 million for works proposed by naib nazims and another Rs12 million for those put forward by women/ minority/labour councillors.
The convener pointed out that Rs134.734 million was earmarked for construction and repair of roads, streets and footpaths; Rs67 million for installation and repair of street lights; and Rs63.075 million for the construction and upgrading of parks and playgrounds.
The council was told that an amount of Rs10 million had been set aside for the development schemes proposed by Citizens Community Board and Rs9.5 million for house-building and conveyance loans to be extended to town’s employees.—APP
